A Few Days In Lisbon- Last Day!

No matter where I go- I love going back home…. I loved being in Lisbon- it is a beautiful, charming city, filled with very friendly people and beautiful architecture. The wine is cheap and delicious and the food is good. A simple ham sandwich is amazing with the most delicious bread and a couple of slices of the best ham one has ever tasted! The pastries are amazing and so are the cakes!

We had a great last day. The only proper meal we had was our usual breakfast. After that it was gelato as usual; coffee and croquettes at a famous Brazilian cafe; cake and pastry at the old bakery and an amazing array of tapas at a tiny little wine bar near the old castle. They served us the most amazing red wine. We sat there and relaxed for a while and thought about how lucky we were to be able to visit this lovely city!

On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at an amazing wine shop. They were doing port tastings and we bought two bottles of port and two bottles of rose wine. I can’t wait to have a glass of yummy port after an amazing meal once I get home.

All in all the trip was a success- looking forward to the next one which is coming up next month- off to Istanbul we go- stay tuned!
