Korean Style Burgers with Spicy Coleslaw

Korean cuisine is currently my family’s favorite right now… amongst other Asian cuisines. We love all Asian cuisines but right now gochujang is always on my mind…

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 3 green onions, trimmed
  • 1/3 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 inch ginger, peeled
  • 2 teaspoons gochujang sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon tamari
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten

Transfer the pork to a mixing bowl and keep aside. Transfer the green onions, cilantro, garlic and ginger to a food processor and process till chopped fine. Add to the ground meat. Add the gochujang, sesame oil, tamari, salt and egg. Mix well and refrigerate at least for an hour. Take out of fridge half an hour before making the burgers. Form into equal sized 4 to 5 patties and cook on stove or grill. Serve on ciabatta rolls topped with the spicy coleslaw.

Spicy Coleslaw

  • 2 cups mixed cabbage coleslaw mix
  • 1 jalapeno, deseeded and chopped
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang sauce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon tamari
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Juice of a small lime

Mix the gochujang, mayonnaise, sesame oil, tamari, salt and lime juice in a medium bowl. Add the coleslaw mix, jalapeno and cilantro. Mix well and check for seasonings. Serve on top of burgers.

Italian Style Cheeseburgers

Another delicious one…

  • 1 pound ground grass fed beef
  • 1 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Transfer the meat into a medium bow. Add the basil, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well and keep aside in the fridge for 2 to 3 hours. Form four patties and keep aside.

Mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup non-fat Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup kalamata olives
  • 3 to 4 sundried tomatoes
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Process the olives, sundried tomatoes and garlic in a small processor. Mix into the mayonnaise and yogurt in a small bowl. Add salt and pepper and taste for seasonings. Keep aside.

  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • 4 burger buns, sliced
  • 4 mozzarella slices

Cook the burgers according to desired doneness. Add the cheese on top. Spread the mayo onto the buns and add tomatoes. Serve the burgers with grilled potatoes and veggies.

Cheeseburgers with Indian Flavors

  • 1 pound grass fed ground beef
  • ½ cup cilantro
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 3 green onions
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander

Process the cilantro, garlic and green onions. Add to the ground beef. Add the salt, garam masala and ground coriander. Mix well and keep aside for 2 to 3 hours. Form into 4 patties.

Garam Masala Mayonnaise

½ cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons garam masala
½ teaspoon salt
Juice of one lemon

Mix the mayonnaise, garam masala, salt and lemon juice in a small bowl and keep aside.

  • 1 large sliced tomato
  • 4 soft burger or focaccia rolls
  • 4 pepper jack slices

Cook the burger patties on a grill or a grill pan according to desired doneness. Top with cheese. Spread mayonnaise on the rolls. Add a tomato slice and add the patty. Serve with corn and a salad.

Turkey Burgers with Pancetta and Caramelized Onions

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ cup pancetta, chopped
  • 1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves

Heat a frying pan with the olive oil. Add the pancetta and sauté on medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes. Add the onion and garlic. Saute for another 5 minutes on medium heat. Let cool and keep aside.

  • 1 pound ground turkey meat
  • 1 tablespoon rosemary, chopped
  • 1/3 cup parsley, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 slices fontina cheese

Transfer the ground turkey, rosemary, parsley, salt and the pancetta mixture to a medium bowl. Mix well and form into 4 patties. Cook on grill or a frying pan. Melt cheese on top.

Serve in ciabatta rolls with tomato slices.

Paneer Cheese Burgers with Cilantro Mayo

Everyone loves burgers- it is one of my family’s favorite things to eat… especially if they are homemade- your guests and you won’t miss meat at all!! These burgers are made with paneer (Indian cheese) and are packed with protein and flavor…

  • 1 pound paneer, grated
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup cilantro, chopped
  • ¼ cup dill, chopped
  • ¼ cup mint, chopped
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves,
  • 1 cup grilled or regular frozen corn, chopped
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala

Mix all the ingredients together and refrigerate it for an hour. Form 6 patties and keep aside.

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese

Heat a large frying pan with the butter and olive oil. Brown the patties on both side on medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes each. Place sliced cheese, cover with foil for a minute or two and serve on buns with slices of tomato,  arugula and cilantro mayo.

Cilantro Mayonnaise

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup plain yogurt
  • Juice of half a lime
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped

Mix all the ingredients together and serve on buns with the burgers.

 

Roasted Onion and Garlic Burgers

A classic beef cheese burger but with amazing roasted onion and garlic flavors- make it this coming weekend!!!

  • 1 medium yellow onion, cut in quarters with skin on
  • 4 garlic cloves, skin on
  • 4 green onions, cut in half
  • Sprinkle of salt
  • Drizzle of olive oil

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Transfer the onion and garlic to a lined cookie sheet. Sprinkle salt and drizzle olive oil. Roast for half an hour and add the green onions. Roast for another 15 minutes and take out of oven. Cool and process in a food processor till chunky. Keep aside.

  • 1 pound grass fed ground beef
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2  teaspoons salt
  • 4 cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 ciabatta rolls, toasted
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • Mayonnaise
  • Lettuce

Transfer the beef to a medium mixing bowl. Add the roasted mixture, egg and salt. Mix well but not too much. Divided into four patties. Cook the patties to desired doneness, top with cheese and place on toasted rolls with tomatoes, mayonnaise and lettuce.

 

 

Mexican Flavored Cheeseburgers

This is yummy and very appropriate for this week of cinch de mayo…

  • 1 cubanelle pepper, sliced in half and seeded
  • 1 poblano pepper, sliced in half and seeded
  • 3 to 4 garlic cloves with skins on
  • 3 to 4 green onions, cut into quarters
  • Drizzle of olive oil
  • Salt
  • ½ cup cilantro, chopped

Place the peppers, garlic and green onions on a lined cookie sheet. Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle salt. Roast in oven for 15 to 20 minutes on 350 degrees F. Add the roasted vegetables in a blender with the cilantro. Blend till smooth. Keep aside.

  • 1 pound grass fed ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg, beaten

Mix the ground beef, salt and egg with the green mixture. Divide the mixture into 6 patties. Keep aside.

  • 6 buns
  • 6 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 1 large or 2 medium tomatoes, sliced

Mayonnaise

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Juice of half a lime
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Mix the mayonnaise, yogurt, smoked paprika, lime juice and salt in a small bowl and keep aside.

Cook the patties and assemble the burgers with the mayonnaise and tomato slices. Serve with oven fries.
